War War II ends in Schleissheim
 
 
 

Unterschleissheim

After surrendering Peter Spoden and his entourage are captured and brought to a meeting place on the Unterschleissheim city hall square. The population receives the approaching GIs displaying white cloths in the windows.

 

 
 

The city hall square is taken by the GIs and their vehicles occupy the whole space.

 

 
 

Rather an unusual sight for the citizens of Unterschleissheim: for a few hours the city is transported back 62 years into the past.

Oberschleissheim

On April 29th, 2007 the U.S. troops advance from Unterschleissheim towards Oberschleissheim...

 

 
 

 
 

... and take the village encountering no resistance.

 

 
 

 
 

For many years after the war Americans were a common sight in Oberschleissheim, and now the illusion returns for 2 days.

 

 
 

 
 

After a tedious march through the Berglwald the U.S. Army camps in front of the city hall to gather strength for the march to the air field.
